POKEMON TRAINER

Red from Leaf Green and Fire Red is now a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Red being an ordinary young teenager is in no position to fight off enemies like Donkey Kong so he uses his three Pokemon to fight for him, Squirtle, Ivysaur and Charizard. You control one Pokemon at a time and you are free to switch between them. All Pokemon share the same damage counter so if you cause major damage to Squirtle, your Charizard will be weak too. Switching to often or leaving a Pokemon in a fight for to long causes them to lose "Stamina" which is a new factor only experienced by using Pokemon Trainer. When a Pokemon has low stamin they will look tired and move slower then normal.

Pokemon Trainer's special move is "Pokemon Change" which as you probably guessed changes the Pokemon between Squirtle, Ivysaur and Charizard. The Pokemon switch in that order so you need to be prepared to sometimes stick with what you have or your stamina will drop.

Squirtle is the smallest and quickest Pokemon available though he is also the weakest attack wise and can fly off the stage the easiest. Some of his attacks include Water Gun which can be changed up, Withdraw which sees Squirtle slide along the ground in his shell to hit enemies and Waterfall which hit opponents upwards and can be used to recover. Squirtle is also able to cling onto walls and other vertical surfaces.

Ivysaur is the most balanced of the three Pokemon with normal speed, weight and attack power. Ivysaur can use Razor Leaf, Vine Whip which can also be used for tether recovery and Bullet Seed.

Finally is Charizard, the most powerful yet slow and heavy Pokemon. Charizard can fly and glide in the air making this his main technique for recovering. Charizard also has attacks such as Rock Smash and Flamethrower.

If one of Pokemon Trainer's Pokemon manage to pound the Smash Ball...

All three Pokemon appear together ready to attack, you know it's going to be huge!

Hydro Pump, Solar Beam and Fire Blast all together, who could resist that? The closer you are when your hit the stronger the attack... Super Effective!
